🧑‍🎓 Two Pathways to Suit Different Age Groups

To make learning accessible and age-appropriate, the program offers two tailored schemes:

For Younger Archers: The AIM Scheme

AIM helps new archers build foundational skills in a simple, memorable way:

  • A – Acquire new skills through guided activities
  • I – Improve your knowledge of technique and safety
  • M – Measure your performance with peer and coach feedback

For Older Archers & Adults: The GOLD Scheme

GOLD supports more mature learners with a deeper focus on technique and understanding:

  • G – Gain the skills to shoot correctly
  • O – Obtain knowledge about equipment and form
  • L – Learn about safety and responsible participation
  • D – Develop your archery skills through practice and reflection

The process is designed to be simple, flexible, and inclusive:

  1. Each archer receives a criteria card at the start of the session. This outlines the tasks and learning goals for that level.
  2. Progress is assessed collaboratively—by the coach, teacher, and even the archer’s peers. Everyone plays a role in recognising achievement.
  3. Once the criteria are met, the card is signed and the archer receives their certificate and badge.
  4. Each level stands alone, meaning it can be completed in a single session or revisited later. There’s no pressure—just progress at your own pace.

🧑‍🏫 For Instructors and Teachers

This program is built to support your delivery, not complicate it:

  • You don’t need to change how you run your sessions.
  • The criteria naturally align with standard archery instruction.
  • Teachers can help manage the paperwork, allowing instructors to focus on coaching.
  • At the end of the session, instructors simply sign off the certificates, and teachers distribute them.
