Follow the Leader – Courtesy of ~ Stuart Barber
As many archers as you can get On the line at one time, max 2 archers per boss. It starts with everyone shooting 1 arrow closest to the x. The archer closest to the x goes first and shoots an arrow. The other archers in turn have to replicate the shot in position and colour. If out of position, it does not matter that much (unless you want to be quite strict), but out of colour means they have to shoot again. At the end, any archer who gets the wrong colour has that arrow removed and placed under the target. Keep going until there are only two archers left with arrows. Then it’s a straight head-to-head nearest to the printed number 5 on the target. If there are some fairly good archers, then to eliminate them, make it so that they have to shoot the colour and the number.
Great for beavers and cubs
Forfeits – Courtesy of ~ ArcheryGB
Ask participants to write a forfeit onto a small piece of paper (eg doing an impression of a chicken).
Anyone hitting the piece of paper has to perform the forfeit in front of the group.
[Requirements: small pieces of paper, pins, pens, prizes]
Fruit Salad Game – Courtesy of ~ Aim4sport
Each group give the colours, white outside of the scoring area of the target, the rubber target, the netting, the grass a piece of fruit. Doesn’t matter what is or isn’t hit; the person can produce their own unique bowl of fruit. It’s a very inclusive game
Fruit Game – Courtesy of ~ Teresa Johnson @ Archery360
There’s nothing like the satisfaction of splitting an apple – or thumping a pumpkin, or just about any kind of fruit – with an arrow! Just be sure you’re ready to clean up the juicy, sticky mess you’ll create.

Glitter Bomb – Courtesy of ~ Teresa Johnson @ Archery360
This is a popular activity at novelty shoots, and it’s no wonder why. Putting glitter into a balloon and shooting it causes sparkles and light all around the target.
Gold or Gobble – Courtesy of ~ Dazzy English
Dunstable Bowmen play a 20m indoor shoot called “gobble or gold”, where on each boss the face is split left/right with a half a regular face & half a turkey. After the end has been shot (3 arrows), the line captain pulls a ball from a bag indicating whether hitting the “gold” scores or hitting the turkey – total pot luck!
Great British Bake Off (Bake a Cake) – Courtesy of ~ Aim4sport
Standard 5 coloured archery target (60cm or 80cm we have found the best)
Teams.
Can shoot individually or have a team shooting 1 arrow each in a relay [Shoot 1 arrow, then go to the back of the team and wait your turn] .
Rules.
For every cake you will need eggs, 2 in this case (2 arrows in yellow),
You will also require water – (1 arrow in blue),
And some water (1 scoring arrow in white).
You will need to turn the oven on (1 arrow in Red) If you shoot another arrow in the Red you have turned the oven off and will need to turn the oven back on again.
However, if you hit a black, the cake is burnt (Shout Fast/Stop) and remove all the arrows from the offending target and the person/team will start again.
The first team to complete the cake without burning it is the winner.

Half and Half, Thirds or Quarters – Courtesy of ~ Lorr Hay
A good beginner’s course game gets everyone mixing, and no one gets knocked out.
Divide the target into 2, 3 or 4 everyone gets their own section.
Shoot 3 arrows, 4 ends, hit your section, you get the points, hit someone else, and they get the points.Vary target size depending on archer’s abilities, use either 5 or 10 zone scoring, to get beginners used to the score value of different colours.Depending on the archer’s abilities, you can also give bonus points for getting 2 or 3 arrows in the same colour
Higher/Lower – Courtesy of ~ Laura Quantrill
Pair or group up archers, get the first person to shoot an arrow, the next person must call whether they are going to shoot a higher value or a lower value than the previous person’s arrow. If they successfully shoot what they choose they gain a point.
If unsuccessful they lose the point to their opponent. The person with the most points wins. Obviously play will continue from the previous arrow shot if that makes sense.
I used this over at camp and the kids loved it ages ranged from 6-16. Variations can be added like forfeits etc.
Hobbit Quest – Courtesy of ~ Will Baverstock
Team game with the first to get arrows from white to gold and back again. The colours have to be shot in order. The team cannot move past the misty mountains (White) until they have a scoring arrow in the white and so on…
With the accompanying story:
Over the white Misty Mountains, escaping from the goblins
Through the black Mirkwood forest, avoiding the spiders
Escaping from orcs over the blue Long Lake
Sneak past Smaug, the red dragon
Steal the gold
And back again……
You can big the story up as much as you like with this and if gets the group involved.
How low can you go – Courtesy of ~ Aim4sport
This is a great individual game. Shoot three arrows into the target and try to score the lowest score you can.
To stop the archers from shooting off the target, any arrow that is not a scoring arrow will count as 10 points for each miss.
The person with the lowest score wins.

Prepare a selection of sheets of paper with holes of decreasing size cut out (can also just use paper and fold in half instead of using a smaller hole)
Minimum 2 archers, no upper limit.
Each archer starts with 6 arrows and a piece of paper with the largest hole.
At each end, the archers aim to get all 6 arrows inside the hole.
Any arrows that touch paper or miss the hole are lost from that end onwards.
If the archer gets all arrows inside the hole, their target is replaced with the next smallest hole.
The winner is the last archer to run out of arrows!
You can mix it up for groups with different skill levels with differing distances or different starting hole sizes
If you want to add a more tactical slant, you can include a rule that says if you get your arrow into an opponent’s target hole then the opponent loses and arrows and you gain one; however, if you miss the hole you lose two arrows instead of one.

Killer – Courtesy of ~ ArcheryGB
Play as individuals or as a team. Shoot and score as normal.
The first person to put three arrows (or as many as you like) from the same end into the same colour wins that colour and prevents anyone else using
that colour to score again.
For example, Joe (or target 3) gets three blues, so from now on, only Joe (or target 3) can score arrows in the blue.
The game is over when all the colours are claimed.
The archer (or target) with the highest score wins.
Keep track of the score using a score sheet or board that everyone can see
