Aim4sport and Feathers & Fletchings have combined to bring you a new and exciting range of archery progress awards, which have levels to suit complete novices through to joining a national governing body beginners course and becoming club archers.
Each of these certificates will guide the archer through a range of tasks using fun, engaging and progressive activities.
All awards are based on the current technical information used in the Archery GB instructor award. Instructors around the country will be able to run a range of taster sessions which will enable the archers to complete both the Archie and Fletch programs.
All of the certificates are printed on 300 gm high-quality paper and give a great reward for the archerโs achievements and a reminder of the technical points of shooting well.
Accompanying each certificate is a range of coaching notes that will help both coaches and instructors to enable them to plan their sessions ensuring all criteria are met.
- Each archer will be given a card detailing the criteria to be met.
- The coach and the candidateโs peers will assess whether these criteria have been met and sign the card.
- The archer gains the award badge and certificate before moving on to the next level.
- What could be simpler than that!!
- Each level is a stand-alone award that can easily be reached by most participants in one session.

More Info regarding the certification program
I have more information regarding the Archie and Fletch archery certificates.
So, I have a few questions?
We thought you might and have tried to answer some common FAQ`s to help you get an idea of what the awards scheme is about.
Who are Archie and Fletch?
Archie and Fletch are our bright and colourful characters who are responsible for our archery progress awards.
The awards are not just about getting high scores, they are also about the skills and knowledge needed to shoot well, stay safe and have fun.
So how does it work?
The scheme (produced by Aim4sport and Feathers and Fletchings) has been carefully designed to follow a simple progressive structure that allows archers to see improvements in their own and others shooting.
For younger students and especially for those who have never shot before we offer the AIM scheme
A – Acquire new skills
I – Improve your knowledge
M – Measure your performance
For older students and adults the GOLD scheme may be more appropriate
G – Gain the skills to shoot correctly
O – Obtain knowledge
L – Learn about Safety
D – Develop your archery skills
This all sounds a bit complicated. What do I need to do?
We recognise that instructors need to deliver and ensure a safe, fun and enjoyable session for the participants without the distraction of a bundle of paperwork. The awards have been designed to be completed by either archers or teachers, so apart from signing the certificates at the end of the session, the Instructor just needs to deliver the session.
- At the start of each session, each archer or teacher will be given a card detailing the criteria to be met. The cards double as the award certificate
- The coach, teacher and the candidate’s peers will assess whether these criteria have been met and sign the card.
- The archer gains the award certificate before moving on to the next level.
What could be simpler than that!!
- Each of the 8 levels is a stand-alone award that can easily be reached by most participants in one session but also allows students, teachers and coaches to see improvements.
Do I need to change the way I run sessions?
No. Not at all
Every aspect of the criteria required to complete the award naturally falls out of the delivery of a standard Aurora Eccles archery session.
If the instructor gives the attending teacher a pen and a pack of certificates, they can complete the archers’ details and tick off what the archer has accomplished. At the end of the session the instructor can sign the certificates and the teacher will then be able to distribute the certificates, leaving the instructor free to run the session.
So why would I bother doing this?
The Archie and Fletch Awards programme comprises of 8 certificates and covers all aspects of archery. The first certificate (Archie Bronze Award) fits perfectly into the current Aurora Eccles coaching ethos and allows the archer to take away a positive experience in the form of a certificate and the option of continuing the scheme on their next visit to Aurora Eccles . Teachers and teaching staff can also return to school and evidence achievement and learning.
So, what happens when the archers leave Aurora Eccles ?
The archer will take the certificate home and can look for an instructor in the area to continue with the Archie and Fletch awards if they so wish. The instructor in the local area will be able to see the current level the archer has reached, and can continue with the next level. This allows continuity going forward and a chance for the archer to continue their archery journey when they return home.
